Nearly 1000 attend AORN Breast Cancer Awareness Breakfast

What an amazing start to our week in Orlando. At 6 a.m. hundreds of perioperative nurses from around the country began streaming into Medline’s “Together We Can Save Lives Through Early Detection” Breakfast Forum at the Rosen Plaza. And they just kept coming! Twenty minutes later, you could feel the force of nearly 1000 women and men committed to spreading the word about early detection. Perhaps the most powerful moment, thunderous applause as dozens of survivors stood to be honored. Inspired by their spirit, their courage and their strength – quite simply – we were moved. Janelle Hail, president of the National Breast Cancer Foundation challenged us to live positive lives, remembering as she and other survivors do that we are indeed fortunate to live – each day is a gift. Janelle, reminded us all to love ourselves and life. Then, beloved for her role in television’s hit series “The Golden Girls,” Rue McClanahan reminded us all that we also need to laugh. Laughter and one or two husbands (ha ha) can get us through anything.

Medline announced that we would again donate $100,000 to NBCF to help fund mammograms for women who cannot afford them. Our mission with this campaign is to make a difference in the lives of women right now. We cannot do this without all of you. Thank you to all the perioperative professionals who joined us today at 6 a.m. – thank you for showing us that you’re with us – that we are on the right track and with your help -- we can spread the word nationwide about the critical importance of early detection and TOGETHER…We CAN SAVE LIVES.

RF-Detect is a Hit with Nurses

In the last few days more than 2700 people visited our booth. There was overwhelming interest in the RF-Detect. RF-Detect will help protect patients by accurately alerting the user when the RF-tagged surgical disposables remain in the patient before surgical closing procedures. Of the 1750 of the OR nurses surveyed, 97% said they supported the RF Detect technology to enhance patient safety. We always look forward to AORN as a great opportunity to put our newest, most innovative products in front of nurses, and it looks like the RF-Detect was a success!

The Wait is Over… Anastasia is Here!

Medline’s booth has been slammed with OR Nurses working to earn the new Anastasia Doll. Many people were eagerly awaiting the unveiling of the latest doll in our line and Anastasia has been as much of a success as the Angel doll was at the booth last year. In addition, nurses came in droves to commend Medline for its Breast Cancer Awareness campaign and breakfast and the OR Connection Magazine. It is rewarding to hear that so many nurses look forward to each new issue. If you haven’t read the latest issue of the OR Connection, talk to your sales rep today or click on the OR Connection link to the left hand side of this page.

Farewell from AORN Congress 2007!

This was the final day of AORN. Saw more traffic to the Medline Booth than in previous years. Perioperative nurses were excited to play the Medline game of operation as the news of RF Detect spread throughout the show. Just as busy were our glove specialists demonstrating the fit and feel of Sensicare Polyisoprene Latex Free Surgical Gloves. Said one nurse from Ohio, “I love this glove, I am serious, I love this glove. It feels like latex!”
Mediclip was also busy removing hair from every male arm around! And OR managers were really excited to learn about an alternative to their current surgical scrub. They were thrilled with the feel of Sterillium Rub. Said another nurse from FL “I am so excited because one of my best clinicians is allergic to CHG – I can’t wait to talk to my Medline rep about Sterillium Rub.” I wish I could personally thank everyone who came to the breakfast and visited our booth. I can’t wait until next year!
